Oldstyle

The Oldstyles were the first typefaces to be designed in metal when printing was in its infancy. They were based on the hand lettering of Renaissance artists, and most have beautiful italics. They are characterized by an angled axis (see above). Other Oldstyles are Bembo, Garamond and Caslon. You can't go wrong with one of these classics.
